Mickey Mouse and Mad Scientists? Disney is Moving!

Disney is moving a laboratory into the Collaborative Innovation Center at Carnegie Mellon University to have a bigger presence at the university for their research and development in computer animation, robotics, computational cinematography and more. Laboratory moving is no easy feat, especially for a company as large as Disney occupying a commercial space once inhabited by Google’s offices. Disney will be joining major technological companies in the CIC including Intel, Apple, Microsoft and others. The company will fund a director and seven or eight researchers for a five-year commitment to the university’s research lab.

So if you happen to witness Goofy, Donald or Minnie carrying some moving boxes into Carnegie Mellon, now you’ll know why. Though, it’s more likely a professional moving company will be entrusted to the experts, not our favorite Disney characters.
